Takanose Munenori (高野瀬宗則)

Munenori TAKANOSE (November 3, 1852 - 1915) was a bachelor of science. He was one of the founders of Tokyo Butsurigaku Koshujo (Tokyo Training Institute of Physics) (later, Tokyo Butsuri Gakko (Tokyo School of Physics), current Tokyo University of Science).

Career

1852: He was born in Hikone City, Omi Province.

1871: He became a Koshinsei (student who was recommended by each domain) and entered Kaisei Gakko (later Kaisei School, the University of Tokyo).

After the abolition of Koshinsei system, he entered Kaisei Gakko at his private expense.

July, 1879: He was a second-batch graduate of the Faculty of Buddhistic terms and Physics of the University of Tokyo.

After the graduation, he taught at Komaba Nogakko (Komaba Agricultural School).

1881: He became one of the founders of Tokyo Butsurigaku Koshujo.

1883: He resigned as the chief of Tokyo Butsurigaku Koshujo.

1885: He became a member of the union of preservation of Tokyo Butsuri Gakko.

1886: He became the chief of Weights and Measures Section of Public Works Bureau of Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce.

1891: He established The Weights and Measures Act.

March, 1894: With the establishment of Dainihon Doryoko Kyokai (Metrological Association of the Great Empire of Japan (later Japan Metrological Association, Japan Measuring Association, current Japan Association for Metrology Promotion), he became a vice-president.

1907: He retired from the post and established Dainihon Doryoko Kabushikigaisya (Metrological company of the Great Empire of Japan).
